I started drawing and painting when I was a child and apparently never out grew it. I was an art major in college, but am largely self taught. My career has been in architectural illustration and design, home design/ building and remodeling and my passion, fine arts. That interest has held over all of these years and I love the artistic process, whether in painting, drawing, or creating in other media forms. I have been represented by galleries in California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Arkansas, and Mexico. Some of the oritginal pieces are available in the Galleries pages and I also have available high quality Giclee reproductions of many of the pieces. If you see something else you are interested in please contact me.I come from a creative family. My Mother, Betty Hoag McGlynn was a respected early California art historian here in Carmel, and her Mother, Elizabeth Lochrie was an important historical painter of American Indians who lived in Montana. My Father, Paul Sterling Hoag was a prominent architect in Los Angeles, his brother and my Uncle, Doane Rusk Hoag, was a screen writer in Hollywood in the 1950’s and their father, Percival Doane Hoag was a pulp fiction writer. Incidentally, my full name is Robert Doane Hoag, “Doane” is Scottish and has been in our family for generations.
